01. The City (2022)

A depiction of a dystopian, futuristic city that has succumbed to tight, competitive, fevella like living conditions. A commentary on class, combing themes of hierarchy and sci fi to depict a feeling of social decline and over population. Intricacies within the city borrow heavily from modern architectue, specifically brutalism and post modernism. I wanted to evoke the feeling of the city being beautiful but fragile by anthropomorphising the city itself. For example, the Inclusion of the veins are meant to represent the interconnectivity within the city similar to a mycelium network. The beating heart and veins are both giving life to itself and others, while also slowly restricting and squeeezing the city, like a boa constrictor.
